Howdy folks, I'm new here. I've been lifting for some time, but I don't take it too too seriously. Mostly I just focus on an all around upper-body routine (various exercises for the chest, arms, abs, back...) but I heard something interesting the other day. Someone mentioned that if you work on your legs as well, your body chemistry will react such that you'll see results throughout your whole body. In other words, even if you don't care what kind of shape your legs are in, you should still work on them because other parts of your body will improve as well. I'm no physiology expert, but it seems to make some sense. There are some large muscle groups in the legs, and your body might need to get itself more in gear for muscle development if you're working them hard. Is anyone familiar with this concept? If it is indeed a fact, can anyone recommend maybe one or two leg exercises I could try to incorporate? Something general like squats or leg press would do the trick, I imagine. Thanks for the help!
