Is it OK to rest??? - 2/16/2007 7:03:09 PM

Hey, I workout everyother day and I was wondering if it is alright to take an extra day off once in a while (not very often) If I am extreamly tired or dont have enough time. Will it effect me in any way or is it benificial, or does it not matter???
Thanks

I am no body building expert, thats for sure, but I have heard that if your body is sore than it is good to take a day off. I was told that if your body is sore than it means that your muscles have not completely healed from the previous workout, and they need more time. But if its just a matter of you not feeling like going to the gym, I say get off your butt and go workout . Either way, I try not to take days off. If I am exceptionally sore than instead of taking a day off I will just not go as hard in the gym. For example, do more sets and less reps, or decrease the weight by 10 lbs, etc.

Hope that helps!

resting is very important. You need on average 1 day for every muscle. so if you train arms mon, then on tues do chest then wed do arms again. As for taking additional days of, once in a while wont make much difference.
