This is my first post and i first want to say hello. I plan to start weight lifting soon and need advice on a personal workout plan. I am in the Army and do PT 5 days a week. During that time we do push-ups, sit-ups, and long runs. I am looking to lose some fat and gain some more muscle. Im not sure how much i can lift, but i can do 85 push-ups in 2 minutes. I plan to workout in the gym for one hour 3 days a week. During this time i plan only to work upper body. At the end of each session i will do 15 minutes of abdominal workouts and my cardio and leg workouts will be from running during my normal daily PT. During the three days in the gym i am not sure how best to develop a plan. I plan for one hour on Tuesday, Thursday, and maybe a bit more on Sunday. My goal is to lose 5-10 pounds of fat and gain 5 pounds of muscle and definition. What would be a good work-out plan for me?
